Notes & source

  • The mobile-web Integrated Marquee on weather.com
  • No pixel size is published: the unit scales "dynamically to fill the available space across a wide range of device sizes while maintaining its aspect ratio", with brand elements inside the deck's safety margins (shown only as a picture)
  • On load it pushes the page content down
  • If the user closes it, it shrinks to a reduced-height closed state where interactive elements, animation and video stop
  • Animation must be CSS-based (no cinemagraph video)
  • GIFs only if the total weight stays under 400 KB
  • Up to eight weather variations
  • Options: temperature range or comparison, indices, countdown, swipe carousel of 2 to 11 frames, video player or gallery, Click2Cart
  • Logos are supplied as PNG, EPS or SVG
  • Built by The Weather Company: its Creative Lab sources or finalises all weather imagery and builds the weather-based creative from the advertiser's key art, messaging, fonts and logos, and the unit does not run during severe weather
  • Creative may not show severe weather (tornadoes, hurricanes, lightning) and limits bright red
  • Logo, copy (20–24 characters recommended) and CTA (12–16 characters max) use no more than a third of the brand area
  • Restricted categories (alcohol, sports betting, lotteries and others) need Ad Ops Contracts approval
  • AI-generated people need the sparkle-icon or text disclosure
  • The in-unit video is the separate In-Unit Video Player spec
